Nominate SA's top Web sites
BY TRACY BURROWS, ITWEB NEWS EDITOR
[Johannesburg, 5 August 2004] - Internet users are invited to vote for their favourite local Web sites in a survey undertaken by Financial Mail and BlueRiverStone.

The user survey is commissioned by Financial Mail and run by Dr Andrew Thatcher, a psychologist within the School of Human & Community Development at the University of the Witwatersrand, in conjunction with independent research project BlueRiverStone.

It aims to profile Internet users and find which local sites save users time and money.

The Financial Mail will publish the FM100, a list of the top 100 Web sites nominated by users.

All respondents will receive a copy of FM's guide to the Web based on the research, and HP has contributed R20 000 in prizes for respondents.

“We all know that the information available via the Internet is virtually limitless – both in volume and variety,” say the organisers. “But we want to know which are the sites that make all of our lives easier – because they short-circuit manual processes, because they show us how to do things we couldn't do before, or because they provide us with totally new ways of doing things.”

Nominations can be made here.
